The Physician’s Edge:
Winning on Social Media Without Selling Out
Independent medicine isn’t losing because we lack skill.
It loses because nobody hears us.
Health systems pump millions into PR firms.
Insurers have armies of lobbyists shaping narratives.
Meanwhile, independent physicians post a blurry office photo once a quarter and wonder why patients and policymakers don’t take them seriously.
Social media isn’t optional anymore.
It’s the only weapon you can wield at scale without asking permission from a system that wants you silent.
1. Authority Beats Algorithms
Stop chasing followers.
Start building authority.
Authority means when you speak, your community stops scrolling.
It’s built by:
Calling out nonsense: When your local health system bills $20K for a procedure you do for $4K, post it. Name it. Show receipts.
Sharing expertise: Teach, but don’t lecture. A 30-second, no-fluff video explaining how you prevent infections in surgery is worth more than any paid ad.
Showing results: Real outcomes—healed patients, transparent pricing, beat every corporate slogan.
2. Play Offense, Not Defense
Corporate healthcare sets the narrative, also known as the best lies money can buy: “Only big systems can deliver quality.”
Your job is to break that lie in public.
Tell stories of patients you’ve saved from unnecessary surgeries.
Expose how insurance games hurt care.
Publish your all-in prices—force comparisons they can’t win.
Most doctors stay quiet to “stay professional.” That’s precisely what the cartel wants.
3. Control Your Market
You don’t need a national audience. You need to own your ZIP code.
Share your experiences with wait times versus those in the ER.
Show your infection rates, outcomes, and prices.
Call out local monopoly behavior when you see it.
When patients and employers know there’s one independent surgeon who tells the truth, guess who they call first?
4. Don’t Polish—Punch
Forget studio shoots and staged hospital poses. The most powerful posts appear raw and almost uncomfortable because they’re genuine. My Tesla videos have some of the highest engagement.
A selfie video from your car after a 14-hour shift explaining why another insurance denial nearly killed a patient.
A 2-minute clip walking through your surgery center showing how you keep costs 70% lower than hospitals.
A screenshot of a ridiculous insurer EOB with your blunt commentary.
That’s what cuts through noise.
5. Be Consistent or Be Forgotten
Posting once a month doesn’t work. Corporate healthcare doesn’t stop attacking your independence; you can’t stop telling your side.
Three posts a week. Show up. Repeat. Build gravity until they can’t ignore you.
Social media won’t make you famous. It’ll make you unignorable.
And when independent physicians become unignorable, we win the war, not just for our practices, but for every patient who’s been lied to about why care costs so damn much.
6. Scale Your Voice
I reach over 60,000 physicians each month, not because I play the algorithm game, but because I started using social media to tell patients about the independent practice of medicine back in 2011.

No PE, No Problem:
Building Real Healthcare from the OR Out
While private equity and sprawling nonprofit systems churn out policies and PowerPoints, physicians like Dr. Dan Choi are quietly rewriting the playbook.
In his independent, surgeon-owned practice, every decision, from scheduling to surgical planning, is built by doctors, for patients.
No corporate meddling.
No middle-management maze.
Just optimized, physician-driven care that gets better results.
This clip shows exactly why doctors, not PE firms or nonprofit hierarchies, must steer healthcare.
If this makes a few hospital executives uncomfortable… good.
It’s probably the first real feeling they’ve had all quarter.
UnitedHealth just wiped $100 billion in value.
UnitedHealth just wiped $100 billion in value because the DOJ is sniffing around its Medicare Advantage offering. Imagine how bad it looks on the inside.
Rojas out.
